early a.m. before any rain

I just happened to look out at the hydrangeas and this Red Admiral flew right onto the windowsill at eye level inches away. Only had a few of this species ever in the yard.

3:10-4:05, sun and clouds, low 70s. 3 parking lots at north end. Big emergence of Pearl Crescents, all of whom were puddling.

Temps in the 70's - mostly cloudy

12:45 to 1:30 pm some sun but mostly cloudy, warm and humid.

11:45-12:15, mostly cloudy with breaks of sun

1:35 - 2:00 pm Mostly cloudy with some sun, warm and humid.

Grass skipper sp. - 2

a cold day. a lot of monarda, mountain mint, clover, blooming. black cohosh blooming- one white blob that might have been an egg(?).

11:30 to 1:00. Overcast with a very few, brief breaks of sun. Temps in mid-60s.

2:55-3:55, mostly sunny, 70. Also had 1 Lady sp.

Count was cancelled so we wanted to see what was around.
Partly Cloudy, 70's spent 4 Hrs. looking.

This property is part of the Harding Land Trust. This is the first time I have butterflied here.

11:45am-3:30pm, mostly cloudy exceptt for last 1/2 hour when it became mostly sunny, upper 70's

9:45-12:15 mostly cloudy and cool to start but becoming sunnier.

12:30-2:15. Mostly sunny; temps. upper 60s.

11:30 to 12:30; Temp mid 70's; Mostly sunny and calm.
Good milkweed and dogbane.
At least half of the Common Wood Nymphs had dark eye spots.

3:30 to 5:30 pm. High 70s and sunny. Very pleasant weather. Most Coral Hairstreaks I've seen in a day. They were on almost every patch of Orange Milkweed along the pipeline right-of-way. No swallowtails or fritillaries. Most of the Glassywings were on one small patch of Common Milkweed.

Sun and clouds, breezy. Temp 68 to 78

9 am to 3:15 pm. Sunny, 84 degrees when finished. Multiple areas visited within the WMA. Majority of Coral Hairstreaks nectaring on Orange Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa). Two were nectaring on sumac (I think Smooth Sumac - Rhus glabra).

Observations made on and off between 10:30-2:30. Sunny.

Leaderless Walks - 7 participants. Sunny, temps in high 70's.

Finally made it up to Sussex - 12:50-4:30 hot and sunny. Amazing to see Northern Pearly-Eye for the first time! The harvesters were a huge surprise and a first for me as well - seen on Canal Rd. - thought it was a crescent for a second but then zoomed in and saw the copper/bronze color and details. One perched about 8 feet up on a leaf and chased a second several times. All browns looked like Appalachians to me. Never saw the mottled form of a Comma like this one! - very dark with almost purple coloration - so cool. One other dark skipper - likely dun.

had a flyby duskywing which never landed. Sootywing was around the bird blind.
