Finally had some sun today so we walked around a few areas between 1pm and 5 pm. Couldn't ask for a better day!

The Buck Moths and Loopers were abundant. Even though not related to butterflies, I thought I would share the beautiful Violet Coral I stumbled upon.

Near 80 and sunny in the afternoon. All of the Monarchs eschewed the New England Asters in favor of purple flowered Buddleias. The common day flying brownish tan moth seen flying around flowers now is the Celery Looper which is having a very good last of the year brood.

1:00-3:00. Mostly sunny, in the upper 70s. Strong breeze and gusty winds from the south. Nice to finally see some butterflies around my house again. Sachems and Monarchs were nectaring the entire time on Buddleias and Lantanas, going from plant to plant. With strong headwinds coming directly from the south, it seemed like the Monarchs wisely chose to "tank up" rather than try to fly against them.
