The Buck Moths and Loopers were abundant. Even though not related to butterflies, I thought I would share the beautiful Violet Coral I stumbled upon.

3:00-4:45. Mostly sunny, upper 70s. Most sightings on hilltop around the airplane navigation beacon. Sachem, Silver-spotted Skipper and most ETBs worn. Variegated Fritillaries fresh. White Aster sp. in full bloom along with some Goldenrod.

Some sun and low 70s in the afternoon. This report includes sightings from our yard on Oct. 11, which also saw some afternoon sun. More species than we usually see in mid-October. All except the Comma were observed nectaring on purple Buddleias and 'Hella Lacy' New England Asters.

Quick mid afternoon to look for Meadow Fritillary and Common Ringlet. The one ringlet we saw from the edge of the road was flirting with one of the few remaining Canada Thistle blooms. New late date for this species.

Near 80 and sunny in the afternoon. All of the Monarchs eschewed the New England Asters in favor of purple flowered Buddleias. The common day flying brownish tan moth seen flying around flowers now is the Celery Looper which is having a very good last of the year brood.
