Abundant Cypress Spurge needs another week or two.

My garden has been very slow to wake up this spring. Saturday's warmth did the trick. Various pollinators were seen along with a nice variety of butterflies on the flowering trees and plants. Some of which probably enclosed from pupae that overwintered in the garden and the overwintering Red Admirals that eclosed last summer that fed on the Slippery Elm and Clearweed plants.

missed a dark gray sized hairstreak on driveway.

10:00-11:15, mostly cloudy, 64º. An unusual female Black Swallowtail, with almost as much yellow in the wings as a male.

1:30-3:15. Full sun, high of 80º. Nice day to be out, but vehicle traffic was very heavy. The Harvester was a short distance past the bridge at Flatbrook-Roy, and lucky it didn't get run over, like several small snakes that we saw.

10:15 to 12:15. Partly sunny; ca. 70°.

many gnats, people, dogs and horses were in attendance.

Sunny but very windy.

9:45am_1:30pm, sunny at first, then mostly cloudy with increasing wind, 65°

sun then clouds, wind becoming biting…dropping from 60F

2:45 to 3:30 PM, Partly sunny, Light wind, Temperature in Low 50s

FOY

11:40, sun and clouds. Observed from the car as we did a slow cruise past meadows and pastures. One briefly nectared on Yellow Rocket. Bobolinks were singing.

Copper was on the mowed grass pre 9am, assumed it was dead but it flew into tall grasses. 8.30-9.30 around 50°c

Noticed motion on roadside, we stopped to investigate.

10:10-11:30, 64 degrees, mostly sunny. Also had 1 Lady sp.

unseasonably cold… maybe 40s, 30 mph wind gusts
butterfly appeared during a brief pocket of sun

60s and slight wind but sunny and pleasant. Fresh mowed area near parking lot. Returning to car we had an Anglewing Sp. fly by.

Fresh Gray Hairsteak was drying its wings next to a large patch of mallow. Windy, sunny, 58 degrees

3:05 - 3:50, Sunny, Breezy, Temp. = Low 60s

11:45-2:15, sunny, 56-60º. Brown Elfins and Juvenals were at Millbrook Gap.

1:30 -3:00, sunny, low 70s. Butterflies (and birds) very sparse for a beautiful day!
