November 2018 Sightings

Mostly cloudy to mostly sunny through the day, high near 70. Our 'Hella Lacy' New England Aster is still a mass of flowers, a great late nectar source for a lot of bees and a few butterflies.

1330 to1345; sunny, low 70's, light south wind. Butterflies nectaring on Buddleia, ignoring Marigolds and Begonias.

1:00pm-2:00pm, sunny to start, high clouds at end. 72F, most nectar sources are spent. White M Hairstreak is more than 2 weeks later than previous late date for northern NJ

Seen while driving. Butterfly was headed south on Route 23.

Seen around noon, just as the sun disappeared for the day. Temps in mid-50s. The Lady was pristine.

1215, sunny ,breezy, low 60's. Butterfly was basking near some fallen leaves, and flushed when I entered the area. Did not see it return or attempt to nectar, although there are a few sources left.

Sunny all day, high near 55. Buckeye is our 50th species in the garden this year.

One Monarch seen migrating. Also briefly saw either a Q'Mark or an E. Comma in the vegatation around the hawkwatch.

Seemed like an Anglewing kind of day after the unseasonably cool weather the last two weeks. And it was. Pretty joyful to see a butterfly again.
