November 2017 Sightings

2:00 to 2:15 71 degrees, slight breeze

3:30 4:00, sun & clouds, 73°. All on or near the Spiny Plumeless Thistle plants still flowering near the white barn. Also had one white-form sulphur.

Totally thrilled to find TWO Milbert's Tortoiseshell's in the garden today, especially since quite a few of my pollinator flowers got zapped by frost last night.

10:30 to 12:30. Partly sunny to mostly cloudy, breezy, 60s. Sunflowers still in good flower and attracting butterflies. Zinnias almost all shot. No Milbert's tortoiseshell; must have moved to Debbi Bifulco's place yesterday!!

11:45-1:00. Some overlap with Tom. Even a few sprinkles as I was leaving.

Nectar nearly gone. Only a few Buddleia blooms remain.

3:30-4:00, low 70s. Sun disappeared behind heavy clouds just as we arrived. All on thistles by white barn.

First spotted the Milbert's at around 11:45, sunning itself on the siding of our house. Continued seeing it around the African Daisies for about an hour.

Gray, misty, drizzle. 9:00 AM-12:00 noon

1445 to 1550. Very cloudy at first, then lighter; some sun at end. Upper 60's. No nectar; not a flower in sight.

Beautiful day, sunny and mid 50s with light breeze. Nice to see even one butterfly, as there won't be many more….

Grounds for Sculpture. Beautiful warm sunny day. An Anglewing flew by but never stopped for a good look.

Sun and clouds, calm, 43 degrees (!). Probably a little warmer in the sun, where this butterfly was flying (on its own, not flushed), but still….
