With the largely butterfly-less April so far this year in central New Jersey (this is only the fourth species so far), I was very happy to find this extremely tattered Red Admiral late yesterday afternoon when it had finally warmed up a bit. I don't think they are supposed to overwinter in New Jersey but I find it hard to imagine this one flew any great distance on those ratty wings.
